We take special pride that the funds given to Crisis Assistance Ministry are utilized wisely and efficiently. Maintaining low overhead costs helps ensure that people in need receive maximized care at their time of greatest need. Because of our good financial stewardship, the agency is officially designated the lead agency for emergency financial assistance in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.

Recognized for our efficiency

Our efficient operations and low overhead resulted in a three-star rating from the leading independent nonprofit watchdog, Charity Navigator. We are also a three-time recipient of Charity Navigator's highest (four-star) rating.

Volunteer support

This invaluable contribution of over 50,000 hours per year by community volunteers enables our agency to broaden the scope and reach of our services.

Providing life's basic essentials

Most people come to us because of a one-time financial crisis such as a medical emergency or reduction in working hours. Having exhausted their available resources, these families turn to Crisis Assistance Ministry as a last resort. It is our duty to help families at risk of losing life's basic necessities -- shelter, utilities, clothing and furniture.

•Very few people come to the agency for aid on a chronic basis — fewer than
one-third come more than once a year.
•Over half the people we serve are employed when they come to us for help.
