Home For The Holidays

Shavonna's world was upended when her family went from two full-time incomes to almost nothing overnight. She had been making partial rent payments but the debt kept growing and she was terrified of becoming homeless. Then you stepped in to make sure she and her family were home for the holidays.

“I’m learning to love me and to appreciate what I have to offer.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Shavonna

A mother and grandmother, Shavonna was born and raised in Charlotte to a close-knit family of educators. She works hard to provide her family with the same support and stability she experienced as a child. But when COVID-19 hit, Shavonna’s world shattered.

Overnight, her family went from two full-time incomes to almost nothing when she was furloughed and her son was laid off. She had been making partial rent payments as she could, but the debt kept growing and she was terrified of becoming homeless.

Casting an ominous shadow over everything was the constant threat of the coronavirus itself. Several family members have serious health conditions leaving them especially vulnerable to the virus. Shavonna’s teenage daughter has a condition that requires surgery every six months; the most recent had to be postponed due to the pandemic. On top of everything, the stress was causing her chronic fibromyalgia pain to flare up.

GIVE HOME

Thanks to donations from people like you, a rent payment was made directly to Shavonna’s landlord and she and her family will be safe at home for the holidays.

This holiday season, you can provide the most vital of gifts – the gift of home. Your support provides help to neighbors in need and creates hope for a better future.
