Kurt Brummert is Shirley Henry Outstanding Volunteer Winner

Kurt Brummert began volunteering with his employer, Bank of America. But before long he was leading the team of volunteers in twice-monthly efforts and spending his vacation helping out too.

I’m not really trying to change the world, but I like being with people who are doing things that make a difference, even if it seems small.

– 2020 Shirley Henry Outstanding Volunteer Honoree Kurt Brummert

Professionally, Kurt spends his days coding tools for the finance industry. Volunteering with his Bank of America team introduced him to Crisis Assistance Ministry a few years ago. He quickly began leading the volunteer team in twice-monthly shifts in the Free Store Warehouse. Since then, he began volunteering on his own—spending his vacation receiving and preparing donated items for neighbors who shop free-of-charge at Crisis Assistance Ministry.

“I just love the energy of the team, the way they make everyone feel appreciated, and the chance to repurpose resources for people who need them,” he says, reflecting on more than 500 hours of service as an individual. That doesn’t even count the time he’s served with his work team!

Thank you, Kurt for your generous gift of time and enthusiasm.
