With four kids at home, Mariagrazia has always worked hard. A first-generation American, she took care to save for emergencies and plan for her family’s future. That’s how she managed to stretch things through the worst of the COVID impacts last year. But when an injury put her out of work again she needed help to avoid eviction.
An innovative new Partner Agency Shopping Service invites representatives of local nonprofits to shop by appointment on behalf of the individuals and families they serve. Available items include clothing, shoes, coats, school uniforms, kitchenware, dishes, and linens. So far, 50,000+ items have been provided to partner organizations.
Between the two of them, Michael and Ronnie have survived two heart attacks, a near fatal infection, P.T.S.D., and a stroke. After all that, the two friends who met at the Men’s Shelter of Charlotte are ready to settle into “everyday life,” as Ronnie puts it, after working together for over a year to meet goals and achieve housing.
